This position is accountable for:

  1. Playing a crucial hands-on role in driving the growth of Hornet’s user base specifically with retention and engagement while collaborating with marketing on acquisition to bring together the full user growth funnell.   
  2. Leading Hornet’s monetization plan and setting the short- and long-term strategy for the subscription business to create demand and adoption of Hornet’s services and products.   
  3. Working cross-functionally, to produce a sustainable and scalable revenue model for company leadership to guide strategic analysis and decision making.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with Hornet’s Chief Marketing Officer, you will chart growth strategies, globally. If you’re that rare product manager who can be equal parts strategic (able to ideate big, targeted, well-thought-out ideas) and analytical (with the data-crunching chops to tell us how they performed and why), we want to hear from you.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with an impressive track record of successfully driving growth for a consumer tech company to join our small but immensely talented and energetic team.

This position will be supported by an analyst with expertise in data and statistical modelling.

Responsibilities

User Growth

  • Plan, launch, measure, and optimize programs, features and campaigns to increase retention and active usage of Hornet
  • Work with the product team and marketing on A/B experiments that create customer insights, which are fed back to help prioritize product priorities and the product roadmap to deliver on growth plans
  • Lead Hornet’s user notification & messaging program to deliver timely and relevant communications that drive reengagement & reduce churn.  
  • Define and oversee key user growth metrics and user accounting  
  • Ensure data infrastructure is in place for measuring and optimizing the entire user journey.

Revenue Growth

  • Define Hornet’s in-app monetization growth strategy and plan
  • Execute and deliver Hornet’s user, retention, conversion, win back, and monetization initiatives and work with marketing to ensure a coordinated approach to user acquisition
  • Optimize our revenue funnel across the user experience and lifecycle
  • Partner with product, engineering, sales, and marketing teams to evaluate and optimize subscriber data infrastructure, as well as third-party vendor services and analytics tools
  • Establish metrics to track the performance of in-app monetization, and set revenue and growth targets for the initiatives
  • Contribute directly to the increase of in-app monetization revenue, achieve or exceed monthly revenue targets, user retention and win-back rates
  • In conjunction with marketing, develop budgets, targets, and campaigns – online, off-line, emails, A/B testing, PR, events, etc. – to increase subscription-based users
  • Define our pricing value. Create pricing strategies to maximize revenue and yield management for our subscription products and advertising.
  • Lead and maintain awareness of email/in-app notification trends, best practices, technologies, privacy laws; ensures campaigns and messaging are optimized for deliverability, mobile rendering, and are aligned with industry best practices
  • Partner with finance team to build, monitor, and refine in-app monetization opportunities and budgets
  • Oversee the company revenue model to provide input into ongoing and periodic financial and strategic planning. You’ll work with the finance team to develop revenue strategies and quarterly forecasts that will directly impact how we prioritize our roadmap and the revenue products that we build

Requirements

  • You have a B.A., or B.S. An MBA is strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of  growth or revenue management experience in areas including monetization of mobile/tech products, email, CRM, directly managing retention and subscription of mobile apps, eCommerce, or dating sites
  • Highly strategic and able to balance long-term strategy with short-term results
  • Experience in product management on revenue generating features, user-centric product development and design, and working with cross-functional teams
  • 5+ years working in or strong analytical skills with an ability to look at complex data and form actionable steps and initiatives
  • Analytical and wired to consume large amounts of data and insights
  • Strong track record of setting and achieving metrics-driven goals
  • Experience with executive presentations and communications
  • Experience with global markets, products, and users preferred
  • Strong English communications skills

This position will ideally be based in NYC, Toronto, Berlin or Cape Town.
