Position Summary:

Hornet is searching for a marketing manager located in Taiwan (Taipei).  This field marketing manager will be soley responsive for growth of our company and presenting our unique brand message in Taiwan and report to the GM in Taipei.  This exciting and challenging position will require identifying unique ways to celebrate the LGBT community in Taiwan, organize social activities, find new partners, establishing contracts with these partners, and maintaining current partner relationships in a large geographic area. This individual must be highly organized to work in a company with employees across the globe all independently. Bonus points for previous experience in mobile, print or online media in the region.

This role is for an independent contractor. Compensation includes base salary.


  • Innovative and strategic marketing professional wanted to manage the growth and expansion of one of the leading global gay dating and social networking platforms.  Looking for someone with the creativity to come up with compelling branding initiatives and the strong analytic skills to measure their return.

    • Map out the current community life of the LGBT community.  Which events happen, what are the demographics, can we support them etc.
    • Work closely with the GM to develop content and other marketing strategies for Taiwan.
    • Design, launch and track an aggressive acquisition program utilizing the latest digital tools and platforms;
    • Drive brand development through PR initiatives, strategic partnerships, and experiential marketing initiatives;
    • Work with designers to create compelling and cost effective install and engagement campaigns via social media;
    • Create a relevant messaging strategy to increase engagement, retention and conversion;
    • Manage app store pages and all relevant consumer facing brand extensions to insure optimization;
    • Collaborate closely with Product Development team to ensure the product is meeting the needs of users and staying ahead of the competition in terms of UI;
    • Cultivate and maintain a consistent voice and tone in all branded communications;
    • Work closely with President and the design team in creating persuasive and powerful branding and advertising campaigns;
    • Conceptualize and manage successful direct marketing and messaging tailored to regional international markets;
    • Work closely with Social Media Specialist to ensure that marketing initiatives are promoted through all relevant channels;
    • Execute strategic initiatives based on regular market assessments, usage metrics and the competitive landscape of the dating and social network sector;
    • Collaborate with GM and President in planning annual marketing budget and evaluate year-end performance, values and objectives;
    • Track, measure and analyze effectiveness of all digital marketing efforts, presenting comprehensive weekly and monthly reporting to management and continually optimizing campaigns to increase ROI;
    • Create, manage and optimize automated communication strings targeting customers at different points in the customer lifecycle;
    • Make presentations to the biggest brands in the region growing/maintaining advertising from current clients and finding new ones.
    • Connect on the local level with potential clients for advertising sales, work with ad reps.
    • Be able to promote Hornet and its various ad products in a clear, effective way
    • Participate in weekly company calls
    • Plan parties in partnerships, exclusive non party events, and  focus on total market domination, online and offline.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Strong history of executing events from start to finish.
    • Not afraid to do everything from negiogitate with vendors to carry boxes of swag / goodies to events.
    • Strong understanding of email marketing best practices as well as experience utilizing high-volume email marketing programs;
    • Understanding of app marketing and analytical tools such as AppAnnie, Flurry, iTunes Connect, etc.;
    • Experience working with Google Analytics, Google AdWords and the Google Drive;
    • Experience buying digital media, especially via key social network platforms. (app install campaigns, engagement campaigns, etc.);
    • A keen eye for innovation and an enduring interest in technology with a strong understanding of the social networking market;
    • Strong analytic skills – ability to take large amounts of data, identify key issues and opportunities, and mobilize team to quickly address issues or capitalize on opportunities;
    • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization and within our customer base;
    • High-energy team player when it comes to collaborating and contributing ideas;
    • Ability to drive ideas from concept to completion through superior organizational, project management and team leadership skills.
    • Bachelor’s Degree required;
    • 4 to 6 years of experience with web and mobile marketing.
    • A college degree in communication, advertising, marketing, or mass media is preferred but not required.
    • Sales experience and knowledge of advertising/marketing principles and concepts.
    • Friendly and outgoing, with excellent communication skills (including writing and public speaking).
    • Ability to learn quickly and work well with others in a fast-paced, team environment.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments simultaneously under deadlines.
    • Ability to perform job responsibilities with little supervision.
    • Excellent customer service ethic and high quality of work.
    • Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques.  
    • Required: Mandarin native speaker, Fluent English. 
    • Proficient with the latest versions of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and Google Docs.The applicant will preferably have an understanding and experience of the gay dating landscape and be a Hornet user.
